Philip Sanders

Biography

Philip is Principal consultant and director of Building Knowledge. He has worked in Australia and UK for more than 30-years in senior management and director level roles, accumulating a wide range of knowledge and experience in effective structural design and product specification, contract development and delivery, and product conformity assessment.

Philip is widely known for his role in product assessment conformity as a director of Australasia’s premiere independent, technical steel certification body, ACRS, and his contribution of technical, procedural and strategic advice and consultation.

Philip has acted as a non-executive director on a number of industry bodies, contributing to several Standards Australia committees for design, specifications and delivery, and Philip speaks and writes extensively on construction industry matters advocating the need for designers, builders, building surveyors and government to validate critical building materials such as steel and concrete as fit-for-purpose through expert, verification-based certification at purchase, manufacture, fabrication, and delivery.

Philip is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Australia (FIEAust), the Institution of Structural Engineers, UK (FIStructE), and the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB). Additionally, Philip is a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv). In business and governance, Philip holds an MBA from AGSM and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
